How Often Should You Get a Haircut? A San Antonio Barber's Guide
Ask five guys how often they get a haircut and you’ll get five answers. Here’s what we tell the clients who sit in our chairs at Brook Hollow Barber Shop.
Skin fades and sharp fades: every 2 to 3 weeks. A fade is all about the blend. Because the sides are cut so short, even a little growth softens the line. If you want it crisp, plan on coming in often.
Classic cuts and scissor cuts: every 3 to 5 weeks. A traditional cut grows out more gracefully, so you can stretch the time between visits and still look sharp.
Flat tops and short, structured cuts: every 2 to 4 weeks. The clean lines are the whole point, and they go fast.
Longer styles: every 6 to 8 weeks. You’re shaping and removing weight, not chasing a close cut. Regular trims keep the style from getting shapeless.
Beards: every 2 to 4 weeks for the lines. A quick trim and neckline cleanup makes a beard look intentional instead of messy.
A simple rule: when you start noticing your haircut instead of liking it, it’s time.
At Brook Hollow Barber Shop in North Central San Antonio, every haircut comes with a steam towel and a straight-razor neck shave, and there’s a cold drink in the fridge. We’re at 281 and Brook Hollow Blvd, serving clients from Hollywood Park, Stone Oak, Shavano Park and across town. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments get priority.
Book your chair and tell your barber how often you want to come in. They’ll plan it with you.
